Welcome to 1st Henfield Scout Group, part of the Adur Valley District and members of the Scout Association, we are based in the heart of Henfield Village, West Sussex.
Our group offers a programme full of fun and adventure, and with over 120 members enjoying our adventurous activities every week we’re one of the leading youth organisations in the area.
Regarded as the oldest existing scout troop in the world! The 1st Henfield Scout Troop was founded in the winter of 1907 / 1908. The formation of Henfield Troop came shortly after Baden-Powell’s experimental camp on Brownsea Island in 1907 and has continued to thrive ever since.
We currently have 1 Squirrel Scout Drey, 2 Beaver Scout Colonies, 2 Cub Scout Packs and 2 Scout Troops. We also have a linked Explorer Scout Units and a young leader unit for Scouts over 14..
Scouting is the largest co-educational Youth movement in the UK, with over 500,000 members. Scouting changes lives, that’s a fact!
At 1st Henfield, we prepare young people with skills for life. Learning survival skills, first aid, cooking and even expedition skills that can lead on to Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Scouting in Henfield is a great way to have fun, make friends, get outdoors, express your creativity and experience the wider world. There’s something for every young person, whatever their physical ability.
We’re talking about teamwork, leadership and resilience – skills that have helped Scouts become everything from teachers and social workers to astronauts and Olympians. We help young people develop and improve key life skills.
As Scouts we believe in bringing people together, celebrating diversity and standing against intolerance, always. We’re part of a worldwide movement, creating stronger communities and inspiring positive futures.
