These are our current vacancies.

We welcome help from anyone: parents, grandparents, friends, family or anyone in our local community who would like to help support our Scout Group.

Recruitment Coordinator

Tasks include:

  • Help to develop and implement strategies for recruiting volunteers based on our needs and goals for each Scouting term.
  • Create compelling recruitment materials such as job descriptions, posters and online postings to attract potential volunteers.
  • Act as the point of contact for enquiring volunteers to ensure they have a welcoming and meaningful induction. 
  • Coordinate local events such as open days/activity days for people to come and see what we do. 
  • Liaise with contacts within the local community who may be able to aid with our recruitment: BN5 Magazine for example.
Events Coordinator

Tasks include:

  • Keep an up-to-date diary of events that our Scout Group are involved in throughout the year. 
  • Liaise with our Group Scout Leader (GSL) and Section Team Leaders to plan and coordinate events.
  • Help to plan and organise all aspects of the event, including venue selection, event timelines, budgets and checklists to ensure all tasks are completed on time and within budget constraints.
  • Coordinate volunteer recruitment to ensure adequate support before, during and after the event.
  • Oversee the execution of the event, addressing any issues or emergencies that may arise and ensuring that the event achieves its objectives and meets the expectations of participants.
Event Helpers

Tasks include:

  • Assist in setting up and preparing event venues, including arranging tables, chairs and decorations.
  • Provide support during the event by helping attendees find their way, answering questions and offering assistance as needed.
  • Help with event logistics such as distributing materials, managing registration and ensuring smooth transitions between activities.
  • Aid in clean-up efforts post-event, including dismantling equipment, disposing of waste and restoring the venue to its original condition.
Activity Support Helpers

The flexible nature of Scout Active Support lends itself to people who want to be involved in Scouting and benefit from opportunities for flexible volunteering. Full training is given. 

Activities you can help with include, camping and overnight stays, archery, shooting range, kayaking, first aid training, hiking, hill walking. 

Charity Trustee

The Trustee Board is a team of volunteers who work together, as charity trustees, to make sure 1st Henfield Scout Group is run safely and legally. At the heart of their role is a focus on strategy, performance and assurance. Effective Trustee Board governance helps our volunteers deliver fantastic programmes that give young people skills for life. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage money well.
  • Follow Scouts policies and relevant legislation. 
  • Create Trustees Annual Report, Statement of Accounts and hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM). 
  • Look after buildings, insurance and property.
  • Look after records of ownership of property and equipment.   
  • Have the right insurance for people, buildings, and equipment.  
  • Make sure buildings and equipment are working well. 
  • Manage risks.  
  • Maintain a risk register and put the right risk mitigations in place.
  • Help the charity to operate well, today and in the future.  
Section Team Leader (Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts)

Tasks include:

  • Lead the section team and make sure we are delivering a fun and challenging programme of activities for our young people.
  • Manage the section finances.
  • Support the section teams and ensure that they are developing their skills and completing any necessary training.
  • Liaise with parents/carers. 
Section Team Member (Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts)

Tasks include:

  • Support the Team Leader in delivering a fun and challenging programme for our young people.
  • A variety of tasks can be discussed and assigned to different members of the Team, including assisting with the session planning, leading activities, supporting the young people during the weekly sessions etc. These roles can be flexible to suit the individuals and the needs of the team.
