On the weekend on the 19th to 21st June, both of our Cub packs descended on Hillside Scout Campsite for their traditional Summer Camp.

However this camp was different , as invited too were some packs from our Adur Valley District- 3rd Shoreham, 1st Sompting and 2nd Steyning.

This was to celebrate 110 years of Cub Scouting! It was in 1916 that the first Wolf Cub sections were formed during the Great War, and this year Henfield Cubs are wearing a commemorative badge on their jumpers.

At the camp the Henfield Cubs not only got to bond with Cubs from across the district but also were all able to partake in many adventures. These included inflatable obstacle courses, fire lighting and backwoods cooking of pizzas on a fire they created, enter a gladiator pit, archery, axe throwing, pioneering, hikes, caving and waterslides!

In addition there were traditional meals, flag break ceremonies, and a campfire with camp songs.

It was a brilliant weekend and thanks go to our amazing team of Volunteer Cub Leaders augmented by other leaders from across the Group. A special thanks goes to Cub Leader Ricki (Ed Cassidy) for organising a brilliant District camp.

Next year we plan an even bigger camp as it’s a very special year!

We eagerly look forward to more Cub camps and more Cub adventures after the summer break.
